The whip has a good quality replacement stitched bridle leather keeper

some of the old leather has been replaced with synthetic vinyl type material - particularly on one of the neck straps

Antique South American / Chilean Spur - Spur542 Swaine both are hallmarked Birmingham 1938A single iron South American spur with a very dark aged patina. This has a large twenty two pointed rowel which still turns freely. The thick neck has incised decoration and the "kidney shaped" opening typical of the region. There is a lobed heel plate which also has incised decoration. Each arm of the spur ends in a diamond shape with two slots for the spur straps and pierced decoration. There are no maker's marks or stamps Dimensions : 9" (24cm)
